When local Northern Colorado organizations come together for a great cause, they definitely go BIG!

Outdoor enthusiasts and community supporters will be thrilled to hear that we have launched ‘Project Happy Camper’ to raise money for Colorado Youth Outdoors (CYO), a local nonprofit dedicated to building healthy relationships between kids and their parents through traditional outdoor recreation.

To raise funds, Pikes Peak RV has gifted a brand new 2021 Travel Lite Peak-9 625SL Truck Camper to CYO to auction off, with all proceeds benefiting the mission of the nonprofit organization!

The online auction will be open for bids through Oct. 1, 2020. We hope to raise $20,000 for CYO through the auction of the all-new camper, valued at $28,603 MSRP.

‘Project Happy Camper’ is motivated by and supports CYO’s mission to build relationships through traditional outdoor recreation. To accomplish this mission, CYO integrates the PACD Model (Participate, Appreciate, Communicate, and Dedicate) into its recreation curriculum, including fishing, archery, camping, shooting sports, and nature play.

“The truly unique gift of CYO is providing time together learning traditional outdoor recreation in an environment that builds relationships,” says Bob Hewson, president, and CEO at Colorado Youth Outdoors. “Our innovative approach of using traditional outdoor recreation as a tool for building relationships has been successful with thousands of participants in our community.”

Since 2001, CYO has grown from a school-based evening program to a site based regional program at Swift Ponds in Northern Colorado serving multiple communities. The programming it provides promotes fun, lasting memories, and a lifelong love of the outdoors.

“When searching for an organization to be the recipient of this gift, our main focus was to find a program that not only aligns with Pikes Peak RV’s values but also showed promise in being an incredible life-long partner,” said Jeffrey Taylor, Owner of Pikes Peak RV. “After making the connection to CYO, we couldn’t think of a more deserving group. CYO embodies all of our aspirations when we say ‘home is where you park it’ with their efforts to build a lasting connection for families through the great outdoors.”

Maybe your family has been begging you to ditch the tent and to get a camper. Perhaps you’ve been saving for a while and have been waiting for the perfect moment to take the plunge. Now you can give BIG and get outside in a great way by supporting a local nonprofit!
